Mo Salah says that Liverpool need to take it one game at a time as they hunt down a second Premier League title.
The Egyptian winger was the hero yet again for the Reds on Saturday, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Cody Gakpo was tripped by Lewis Cook in the box during the first half, allowing Salah to convert from the spot for the 300th goal of his European club career. The 32-year-old followed it up with a fantastic finish in the 75th minute to put the game to bed.
Liverpool have now opened up a nine-point lead over second-placed Arsenal in the Premier League table with 15 games to go.
“It feels slightly different but last season we were the same, the season before we were very close,” Salah told Sky Sports. “But we need to stay humble and take each game at a time and we don’t have to think further. Think about each game.
“Scoring goals and keeping on winning, it’s an incredible feeling. But the main target is to win the Premier League with the team. We are moving in the right direction so let’s keep going. Now it’s time to relax and enjoy.”
As much as Liverpool’s attack has powered their title charge, the defence has been equally important to their superb form. No other team has kept more clean sheets than the Merseyside outfit (10) or conceded fewer goals (21) this season.
“The defence is incredible,” Salah said. “Alisson knows how good he is for us. We’ve played six or seven years together and then one or two in Rome. He works very hard, I’m happy for him.”
