Whittaker was believed to be the subject of a bid from Hull, who are keen to strengthen this month.
Hull City have had a bid rejected for Plymouth Argyle star Morgan Whittaker.
According to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook, both the Tigers and Burnley have had a bid knocked back by the Pilgrims for the winger.
Whittaker, 24, first impressed while at Home Park on loan and has been one of the first names on the teamsheet for Argyle since his permanent move in the summer of 2023.
He was outstanding last term and remains a key player for the Greens despite struggling to hit the same heights this term.
Scoring the winner in Argyle's away game against Brentford on Saturday, his strike allowed the Pilgrims to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup, which has reinforced just how important he is for the Devon outfit.
In their quest to secure survival, Plymouth will be desperate to retain the winger, considering how lethal he can be in the final third at this level.
But there's no shortage of interest in the player, whose future at Home Park was also the subject of speculation during the previous window.
Hull cashed in on Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves during the summer, which could give them a decent amount to spend during this window.
Already bringing in Matt Crooks and closing in on a loan move for Joe Gelhardt, it also seems as though they have taken an interest in Whittaker.
However, Crook has reported that the Tigers have had a bid rejected for the latter, along with the Clarets, who played Lyle Foster out wide on Saturday.
The Lancashire side have some decent wide options, but it looks as though Scott Parker is keen to lure the Plymouth star to Turf Moor to help in their promotion quest.
It's fair to say that some of Hull's recruitment during Acun Ilicali's (above) reign has been questionable.
But Whittaker would be an excellent signing, considering he has already proved his worth at this level and is thriving, even in a struggling side.
You have to wonder whether the Tigers will be able to afford him without breaching financial rules, even with Philogene and Greaves' sales in mind.
Whittaker could actually end up being a great replacement for Philogene.
But it would be difficult to see Whittaker making this move during the January window, considering a switch to the MKM Stadium isn't that much of a step up at the moment.
