Serie A giants Napoli picked up a 2-1 win over Milan and Antonio Conte is starting to believe in the extraordinary possibility of winning the league.
Napoli scored early in the game through Matteo Politano and Romelu Lukaku made it 2-0 later in the half. While Luka Jovic did pull one back, Santiago Gimenez had missed a penalty early in the second half and that cost the Rossoneri a vital point and helped Napoli a lot in the race.
Napoli are now only three points behind Inter in the title race, with the Nerazzurri having also picked up a 2-1 win over Udinese earlier today.
After the game, Conte spoke to DAZN about the win and stated that while Inter are in a league of their own, the Partenopei have to believe their chances.
He said, via MilanNews: “Winning today was fundamental, the next round is very difficult, we’re going to Bologna. After 8 months of work it would be crazy not to believe in something extraordinary. Up front there is a battleship that would be in a league of its own. It will be important for us to recover everyone, because if we recover everyone we can have our say.”
Speaking further about the game, Conte stated that the game wasn’t easy but Napoli still made it.
“Today it wasn’t easy, we play after Inter and we play against a great team that is Milan: there were all the prerogatives to create a gap that would have been hard to fill. We gave an important response. We need everything.”
Napoli take on Bologna next in what could be a huge game for them, especially considering how Inter have a relatively easier fixture list till the remainder of the season.
