Denzel Dumfries is “proud” after captaining Inter Milan in this evening’s 2-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord.
The Dutchman reacted at the end of this evening’s round of sixteen second leg win speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries wore the captain’s armband in this evening’s Champions League match against Feyenoord.
Nerazzurri skipper Lautaro Martinez was on the bench for the match. As were other experienced players such as Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni.
Therefore, it fell to Dumfries to lead the Nerazzurri team as they looked to secure their place in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
It was also a particularly special evening for the Dutchman. He was playing against a team from his home country of the Netherlands.
And Dumfries responded to the pressure. He put in another outstanding performance, just the latest in his string of strong displays in recent weeks.
Wingback Denzel Dumfries gave his thoughts after he had the honour of wearing the captain’s armband in this evening’s match.
“I’m proud,” the Dutchman said. “It’s a special moment for me, because I captained Inter for the first time since I’ve been here.”

Dumfries noted that “Everyone is happy for me.”
“But I hope de Vrij can recover quickly. Because he’s a great player.”
Dumfries gave his thoughts on this evening’s win as well. “It was a good match,” he said. “A great evening for us.”
“I’m happy to be in the quarterfinals,” added the captain on the night. “Bayern are a great team.”
Inter will meet Bayern Munich in the next round after the Bavarians wrapped up qualification in the second leg of their all-German tie against Bayer Leverkusen.
