We asked Mark Jankowski to give us his match ratings and player comments after Newcastle 1 Bournemouth 4.
A match where Bournemouth started off as the better team and Newcastle United never really getting a proper hold on the game.
The visitors creating chances very early on and even though taking the lead after only six minutes, I think many Newcastle fans had already felt the goal was on its way.
United were always chasing the game, even at 1-1 it felt like Newcastle were never really getting a grip on the game.
Now Eddie Howe and his players having to look to next weekend at Southampton to hopefully begin a new winning run.
Match ratings
Dubravka – 5
With Nick Pope nearly back to fitness, Dubravka delivered his worst performance since returning to the team.
He did make a good stop late on to deny Jebbison on the break but made poor decisions and should have done better with the second goal.
Livramento – 4
Tino had a stinker.
He was bullied by Semenyo for the majority of the game.
He did okay on the cover on a couple of occasions but he’ll hope England boss Thomas Tuchel skipped this one.
Botman – 5
Only 45 minutes for Sven but never really asserted himself on the game.
Bournemouth were forcing him to play off his right which he never really looked comfortable doing.
Burn – 5
Bournemouth constantly tried to get in behind big Dan but and made life difficult for him.
His weakest performance of the season but that probably goes for everyone.
Hall – 5
To complete the set of disappointing performances at the back, Lewis Hall delivered his worst game since Bournemouth away.
I felt he generally did better than Tino and he got almost no help from an off colour Anthony Gordon.
Bruno – 6
Tricky one to score for our captain.
He generally played pretty well and slipped numerous good passes into our attackers who wasted most of them.
He was our goal scorer too but shoulders a sizeable slice of responsibility for Bournemouth’s second goal.
Tonali – 6
Was as tireless as ever and if it hadn’t been for some excellent work tracking from midfield it, could have been more for you Cherries.
Sandro will no doubt have better days but he still looked our best player.
Joelinton – 5
He was ganged up on constantly, a tactic Bournemouth applied in the reverse fixture.
For the most part Joelinton did his best to shake off the man hanging off his back but he was sloppy with his passing when he did.
Murphy – 5
Murphy tried his best as always and perhaps his attacking potency was stifled by having to spend a lot of his energy tracking back to help Tino.
Isak – 5
Barely got a touch in the game.
When he did he looked to try and get at the Bournemouth backline but to their credit they swarmed the Swede whenever he got near the box.
Only effort of note was a poor free-kick.
Gordon – 4
His touch seemed off. He’s been playing so well recently but he’ll feel disappointed with his performance today.
He did have a couple of smart efforts from range that were well blocked.
Subs
Schar – 5
Looked slightly more comfortable than Sven Botman did in the first 45 but was uncharacteristically loose with his passing on more than one occasion.
Willock – 5
Made an initial impact after coming on, trying to run at the Bournemouth backline, but it didn’t take long for him to fall in line with the disappointing rhythm of the rest of the team.
Trippier – 5
Tripps used his experience to try and shackle the dangerous Semenyo and maybe had a bit more success than Tino, though he also was very careless with the ball.
Osula – N/A
Not on long enough for a rating but in his brief cameo he did at least manage to get in behind the Bournemouth defence.
