Notts County part ways with Stuart Maynard

Notts County have parted ways with head coach Stuart Maynard after he couldn’t get them over the line in their push for promotion from League Two.

The 44-year-old's 16-month spell in charge ended just five days after the Magpies crashed out of the play-offs at the hands of AFC Wimbledon.

Maynard took over in January 2024, finishing mid-table last season before steering the side into the play-offs this time around.

He picked up 28 wins from 73 games, but his side came up short when it mattered, losing 2-0 on aggregate to Wimbledon.

County ended the campaign in sixth, but a dreadful run of form, with just one win in their final eight matches, including the play-offs, proved to be their undoing in the hunt for League One football.
