Napoli and Cagliari have officially confirmed an exchange of goalkeepers, as Elia Caprile has joined the Isolani, while Simone Scuffet has joined Antonio Conte’s table-topping Partenopei.
Both goalkeepers have moved on loan deals for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Caprile, however, has moved to Cagliari on loan with an option to buy, while Napoli’s deal for Scuffet does not include a buyout clause, according to the clubs’ statements.
Caprile is expected to become Cagliari’s first choice goalkeeper following Scuffet’s departure.
Scuffet, meanwhile, is expected to provide cover and competition for first choice Alex Meret, who missed a handful of games with an adductor injury earlier in the season. Meret’s spell on the sidelines led to three out of Caprile’s four league appearances in a Napoli shirt.
Scuffet has enjoyed a more consistent run of appearances during his time with Cagliari, having played in 11 Serie A matches this term and 31 during the 2023-24 season.
