Real Madrid have confirmed that Eder Militao has successfully undergone surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.

This injury comes just 15 months after Militao was sidelined for a similar issue with his left knee, which kept him out of action until March of this year.

The club issued a statement this morning, assuring fans that the surgery went well. The operation was carried out by Dr. Manuel Leyes, a highly respected figure in the medical field, under the close supervision of Real Madrid’s medical team.

“Our player Eder Militao has undergone successful surgery today on a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

“The operation was performed by Dr. Manuel Leyes, under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services,” read a statement from the club.

The statement also noted that Militao would begin his recovery process in the coming days.

Militao’s injury occurred during Real Madrid’s match against Osasuna, where he was forced to leave the pitch in tears.

The unfortunate incident happened in the 27th minute of the match when the defender’s leg got stuck in the ground while attempting to clear the ball.

This caused significant damage to his knee, marking another blow to the player and the team.

Given the nature of the injury, Militao is expected to be out for a considerable period, with reports suggesting it could take between seven and nine months for him to fully recover.

Unlike his first ACL injury, which was limited to the ligament itself, this time the damage has also affected his meniscus, making it likely that his absence will be longer.

With this latest setback, Militao will miss the rest of the season, which is a huge blow for both him and Real Madrid.
