Once Tottenham Hotspur play Fulham on Sunday afternoon, and well, once everyone else has played their games this weekend - we will have reached the first international break of the calendar year. We have already seen plenty of Spurs players called up to their national teams - and also seen some be harshly snubbed of a call up.

The latest player Spurs player to be called up is right-back Pedro Porro, who has been called up to the Spain national team for their nations league quarter-finals against the Netherlands later on this month.

Fortunately, he will not be up against fellow Spurs player and defender Micky van de Ven, who was not named in the Dutch squad by manager Ronald Koeman. With some players you are not as fussed about them being called up - some may need the sharpness, some may need the confidence.

However, with van de Ven, it is objectively a huge relief and a good thing that he will get two weeks of rest. Having played for half an hour in the draw against AFC Bournemouth, and for an hour in the win over AZ Alkmaar, you would surely hope that he will be raring to go after a two week break. That is, assuming he doesn't get injured against Fulham - god forbid.

Anyway, Porro appears to be the only out and out right-back named in the squad, with Oscar Mingueza, whom plays both in central defence and out on the right, the other option picked. So we can assume that he is likely to start both games. In the last two squads, the only game the Spurs defender did not start was the final group game, when they had already secured top spot. Both these games will be of more importance, barring a heavy battering in the first leg, so he will surely start.

Which, is not ideal. The 25-year old is already pretty clearly shattered from the amount of football he has played this season, coupled with the physical demands that come with playing in an Ange side. Still, let's just hope he can avoid injury, and be ready to go again after the break.

The first leg will be played away from home on Thursday, the 20th of March, at 19:45 GMT, whilst the second leg will be played at home, on Sunday the 23rd of March, also at 19:45 GMT.
