📈 Power Rankings: PSG and Inter climb after famous wins

10. Galatasaray (🆕)

Galatasaray rejoin our Power Rankings table after clinching the first leg of a Turkish double.

Victor Osimhen scored twice as Okan Buruk’s side thrashed Trabzonspor 3-0 in the Turkish Cup final, after Baris Alper Yilmaz had opened the scoring inside five minutes. Süper Lig success and a domestic double can be confirmed this weekend.

Things are looking rosy for the Istanbul outfit.

9. Sporting Lisbon (👍 Last week: 10)

Sporting did just about enough in a nerve-jangling title decider at Benfica at the weekend.

The Lisbon rivals are level on points at the top of the Primeira Liga, with Sporting just shading the title race on goal difference. The teams met in the penultimate game of the campaign at the weekend, a 1-1 draw at The Estádio da Luz.

Sporting will be champions again if they can match Benfica’s result this weekend – barring a four-goal turnaround in goal difference.

8. Napoli (No change)

Napoli are still in control of their own destiny, but dropped points this weekend have tightened things up.

Antonio Conte’s side twice led against Genoa but were unable to get over the line. With Inter capitalising to close the gap, just a point separates the teams heading into the final two games. The Scudetto chase is going to the wire.

7. Manchester City (👎 Last week: 6)

Manchester City’s chase for Champions League football faltered after being held to a goalless draw at Southampton.

The point ensured Southampton avoided becoming, statistically, the joint-worst team in Premier League history. That fact alone is enough to frustrate Manchester City, who failed where almost every other side has succeeded this season.

There were certainly some sour grapes from Ruben Dias and Pep Guardiola…

6. Newcastle (🆕)

Newcastle United return to the table after taking a giant leap towards Champions League football.

Eddie Howe’s side won their sixth straight game at St James’ Park, beating Chelsea 2-0 courtesy of goals from Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes.

The Magpies will move up to second with a win at Arsenal this weekend, with their highest Premier League finish since 1996/97 within their reach.

5. Bayern Munich (No change)

Bayern Munich got their hands on the Bundesliga trophy at the weekend, beating Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0 to ensure the celebrations could kick-start properly.

Harry Kane got a customary goal before Michael Olise bent in a beauty to seal it.

Olise learned the hard way that you can run, but not hide, from Bayern’s beer showers.

4. Liverpool (No change)

Liverpool might as well be on the beach and, well, some of the squad have been this week.

The Reds drew 2-2 with Arsenal in an entertaining Anfield encounter, before jetting off for a short break between games.

Arne Slot’s been pictured in Ibiza this week, partying with Wayne Lineker in a link-up that wasn’t on our bingo card.

3. Inter Milan (No change)

Inter are alive in the Serie A title race after a 2-0 win at Torino.

Nicola Zalewski and Kristjan Asllani were on target as the champions closed in to within a point of leaders Napoli.

Sunday’s showdown with former club Lazio is a huge one for Simone Inzaghi.

2. Barcelona (No change)

Barcelona are almost there and can be crowned champions of La Liga with a win this evening.

The Catalans came from behind to win an epic El Clasico at the weekend, recovering from two early Kylian Mbappe goals to take the points. A 4-3 win has put Barcelona one win from the title and a Spanish double.

1. Paris Saint-Germain (No change)

Luis Enrique gave his fringe players a run-out at the weekend, and PSG swatted aside Montpellier using only the supporting cast.

Goncalo Ramos provided a reminder of what an out-and-out centre-forward can bring with a hat-trick to move to 18 goals in all competitions, despite his sporadic role.

For PSG, it’s all about gearing up for this month’s Champions League final.
