Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
Eddie Howe and his players kicking off at 2pm in their Sunday match at Brighton.
First of all, four other Premier League fixtures on Saturday.
Then three more on Sunday as well as the NUFC match.
Before finally one on Monday night.
As a Newcastle United fan, have a look at this weekend’s other Premier League fixtures and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is likely in terms of results.

My Conclusions
Saturday 3 May
Villa v Fulham – Apologies for getting to this article later than I intended. Knocked out of the Champions League and hammered by Palace in the FA Cup, Villa left with only the Premier League and an outside chance of getting into the Champions League again. The last four PL games have seen Fulham lose three but become the only side to win a PL home game against Liverpool this season. As this article goes up on The Mag, an hour gone of this match and Villa leading 1-0 thanks to a Tielemans goal early on. Come on Fulham!!!
Everton v Ipswich – Everton have let Newcastle down recently, as they looked sure to deprive Man City of points, until the visitors scored seven minutes from time. Before that late defeat, the previous 12 PL matches had seen Everton lose only one, that was a narrow 1-0 loss at champions-elect Liverpool. Everton then last week losing a dour match 1-0 against a very average Chelsea side.
Leicester v Southampton – The bottom two have only won six between them from a combined 68 PL matches this season. I fancy the Saints actually to win this, though not sure why!
Arsenal v Bournemouth – The Gunners have won only three of their last nine PL games, have lost at home to West Ham in that run and also at The Emirates drawing their last two against Palace and Brentford. Bournemouth have a win and three draws in their last foor PL games and I think they will get at least a point with Arsenal only having eyes for the Champions League after losing 1-0 to PSG in their semi-final first leg.
Sunday 4 May
Brentford v Man U – A very decent team up against a very poor one. Since losing to Newcastle United, Brentford have drawn against Chelsea and Arsenal, hammered Brighton 4-2 and won 2-0 at Forest. Man U had picked up only one point in four PL matches and looked sure to add another defeat when losing and having been dominated by Bournemouth, only for yet another abysmal decision by match officials to help them out. A red card for Evanilson that was later rescinded. A home win all the way here.
Brighton v Newcastle – The only match that really counts. Newcastle looking to make it eight wins from nine (all competitions). Brighton’s form has collapsed and looked set to make it six PL games without a win at home to fourth bottom West Ham. Only for the Hammers to show why they are 17th in the table, conceding with a couple of minutes to go and again in added time to gift a 3-2 win to Brighton. The Seagulls have conceded at least two goals in each of their last six matches, including at home to Leicester. So plenty reason for confidence that United can win this.
West Ham v Spurs – West Ham have no wins in their past seven PL games and couldn’t even win their last home game against Southampton. Tottenham have six defeats, one draw and a win against Southampton in their eight PL games. It is 17th in the table against 16th and any result possible here but a very poor quality match in prospect.
Chelsea v Liverpool – Chelsea are such an average team that has carried so much luck to still be challenging for top five. Even then they have won just seven of their last 18 PL matches. Their last four home PL games have seen three 1-0 wins against Everton, Leicester and Spurs, plus a 2-2 draw against Ipswich. Liverpool have lost only one of their last 30 PL matches, have won seven of their last eight and with no other distractions I think they will be playing it all out to the end of the season. I really fancy Liverpool to win this and Chelsea’s luck to run out finally. Since 1 December 2024, Chelsea have won just one match against a top half team.
Palace v Forest – Only two defeats in their last nine PL games and now buoyed by reaching the cup final, I can’t see Palace losing this. Forest on the other hand looking demoralised after losing their FA Cup semi to Man City and losing at home to Brentford on Thursday made it three defeats from their last four PL games, only beating a useless Spurs side. Three points for Palace I fancy and doing a favour at the same time for Newcastle.
