Eddie Howe and his players facing Fulham at home on Saturday afternoon, with a 3pm kick-off.

As a Newcastle United fan though, have a look at this weekend’s other Premier League fixtures and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is likely in terms of results.

Saturday 1 February

Forest v Brighton (12.30pm)

Bournemouth v Liverpool (3pm)

Everton v Leicester (3pm)

Ipswich v Southampton (3pm)

Newcastle v Fulham (3pm)

Wolves v Villa (5.30pm)

Sunday 2 February

Brentford v Spurs(2pm)

Man U v Palace (2pm)

Arsenal v Man City (4.30pm)

Monday 3 February

Chelsea v West Ham (8pm)

This is how the table looks on Saturday morning (1 February 2025) before this round of Premier League fixtures are played:

My Conclusions

Forest v Brighton – Forest had won seven and drawn one of their last eight PL matches, until crashing 5-0 at in-form Bournemouth. Whilst Brighton hadn’t lost in six before managing to lose 1-0 at home to Everton. Brighton have drawn more (10) PL matches than anybody else this season and I fancy they could make it 11 today. That would also mean both dropping points, though if Forest lose, Newcastle would then go third if winning today.

***Newsflash – A bit late getting this written and just coming up to half-time in this match, Forest 3-0 up!

Bournemouth v Liverpool – The home team undefeated in 11 PL games up against an away side unbeaten in 18. I can’t say I often want Liverpool to win but with Bournemouth only a point behind Newcastle, I will be reluctantly supporting the scousers. A match where all three results are possible but I am predicting a draw.

Everton v Leicester – The other scousers with a returning manager bounce, Moyes’ team losing to Villa but then winning their next two PL games. Leicester had lost seven PL games in a row before winning at a woeful Spurs. That win lifting the Foxes a point clear of relegation, so a massive three points today if they can get them, it would also take them just three points behind Everton. Hopefully they can do that but Everton do look a bit better under Moyes, so more likely a home win in this one, though maybe a draw at Goodison.

Ipswich v Southampton – Southampton are doomed and unless they win today, any faint remaining hopes gone. Whilst Ipswich know that if Leicester fail to beat Everton, a win will take them out of the bottom three. I reckon Ipswich will get that victory.

Newcastle v Fulham – Hopefully NUFC making it 11 wins from their last 12 games.

Wolves v Villa – Wolves picked up seven points in their first three PL games under the new manager but have then lost four, conceding 10 goals and scoring just one. Villa are very up and down and have won only two of their last six PL games. They were great for the first 15 minutes against West Ham and took the lead, then were woeful against a poor Hammers side for the remainder of the game and lucky to get a 1-1 draw. Villa had tough game against Celtic in midweek and I fancy this derby match to see Wolves raise their game, I reckon they won’t lose and could even get all three points.

Sunday 2 February

Brentford v Spurs – Brentford have bounced back from no wins in four PL games to pick up seven points from their last four. Tottenham can get results against weak teams in Europe but six defeats and a draw in their last seven PL matches. I think Brentford a great bet to win this and Spurs could be only five points above the drop if other results go against them.

Man U v Palace – Palace had lost only one of 11 PL matches before Brentford beat them last time. Man U have fluked a couple of win against Southampton and Fulham but still look poor, six defeats in their last ten PL games. I don’t think Palace will lose here and could well win, which would take them above Man U if winning this bottom half of the table clash.

Arsenal v Man City – Man City have been getting better results recently but still don’t really convince. They struggled against Brugge as well in midweek. I think Arsenal win this and I suppose looking at the league table we need to be ‘supporting’ these lot on Sunday.

Chelsea v West Ham – Chelsea have won one of their last seven PL games, whilst a bit of a new manager bounce for West Ham, in three PL games under Potter they have four points. As I said earlier, West Ham should have won at Villa even though they didn’t look great themselves. Hopefully they can get at least a draw to help NUFC out.
