And here we are. The final Premier League gameweek of 2024.
While the year may be coming to an end, this gameweek also nicely represents the halfway mark of the 2024-25 Premier League season. Liverpool will go into 2025 top of the table, and they’ll be hoping for a comfortable lead when they take on West Ham United.
Chelsea travel to Ipswich Town hoping to keep up with the Reds, while Arsenal take on Brentford in the first Premier League game of 2025. The gameweek starts with Leicester City hoping to add to Manchester City‘s miseries, while Manchester United host Newcastle United in another tricky game for Ruben Amorim.
We’ve taken a look at all 10 matches from gameweek 19 and offered our predicted scores.
Man City are struggling. The defending Premier League champions have now won just one of their last 13 games across all competitions. In the Premier League alone it’s now four without a win, losing two and drawing two. Leicester are also winless in four, but they did go ahead against Liverpool at Anfield last time out.
Everton have once again made Goodison Park a tough ground to visit. The Toffees are unbeaten in their past six home league games, winning two and drawing four. They’ve kept four clean sheets during that time, including against Chelsea. Nottingham Forest are in good form, winning their past four league games. But they have lost their last two against Everton without scoring.
Prediction: Everton 1-0 Nottingham Forest (13/2 with BetMGM)
Wolves look like a completely new team under Vitor Pereira. After replacing Gary O’Neil, the new Wolves boss has won both of his first two games, including a win over Man United last time out. Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, have lost four of their last five in the Premier League. They have also both scored and conceded in each of their last seven home league games.
Fulham and Bournemouth go into this game both on six-match unbeaten runs in the Premier League. Fulham have won two and drawn four, securing a second victory against rivals Chelsea on Boxing Day. Bournemouth, meanwhile, have won four and drawn two, settling for a point against Crystal Palace last time out. There may be nothing to separate two sides looking to end 2024 on a high.
Crystal Palace have lost just one of their last seven Premier League games, taking points at Selhurst Park against Newcastle and Man City. They face a Southampton side that have lost six of their last eight Premier League matches with two draws. But, Saints have scored against the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool during that run.
What a year 2024 has been for Liverpool. The Reds are seven points clear at the top of the table and they’ll look to carry that lead into 2025. Liverpool have lost just one game across all competitions this season, unbeaten in their past 22 matches. That run has included 19 wins, with Liverpool coming from behind to beat Leicester last time out. Against West Ham, Liverpool have won six of their past seven games, including in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
Chelsea fell to a 1-2 home defeat against Fulham on Boxing Day, but they’re much more comfortable on the road. The Blues have taken 20 points from their nine away league games this season, with no Premier League side taking more. They’re just six points behind their away game tally from last season. Ipswich, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone and are yet to win a league game at Portman Road in 2024-25.
This is an interesting game between two sides who will want to be higher up the table. Aston Villa and Brighton occupy ninth and 10th respectively, and could be in danger of losing ground in the race for European football. Villa go into this game off the back of a defeat to Newcastle, while Brighton also suffered a bit of a winless run in the Premier League. So, it could finish all square.
Ruben Amorim’s start to life as Man United manager hasn’t been too good. The Portuguese boss has won four of his first 10 matches in charge, losing three. Man United have lost their last three across all competitions including two in the league. They’ve also lost back-to-back Premier League home games for the second time this season — conceding three goals in all four of those matches. At the same time, Newcastle have scored at least three goals in five of their past six games across all competitions.
The final match of the gameweek and the first of 2025 is a London derby. After winning seven and drawing one of their opening eight home league games this season, Brentford lost their final game at the Gtech Community Stadium of 2024. Nottingham Forest left with a 0-2 win, and Arsenal will now hope to make it two defeats from two. The Gunners have won four of their six Premier League games against Brentford, unbeaten in their past five.
