For Newcastle United and the rest of the Premier League teams in the cups, it surely comes down to what it always does.

How many matches you are winning!

So I have had a look at all 20 Premier League clubs this season in the domestic cup competitions…

We are now six and a half months into the 2024/25 season, this is how many matches each Premier League team has won (and lost) in domestic cup competitions (as of the morning of 28 February 2025):

8 and 0 Newcastle United

5 and 1 Palace

5 and 2 Liverpool

5 and 2 Tottenham

4 and 1 Brighton

4 and 1 Man U

4 and 2 Southampton

3 and 1 Man City

3 and 1 Fulham

3 and 1 Villa

3 and 1 Wolves

3 and 2 Leicester

3 and 2 Brentford

3 and 3 Arsenal

2 and 1 Forest

2 and 1 Bournemouth

2 and 1 Ipswich

2 and 2 Chelsea

2 and 2 Everton

1 and 2 West Ham

As you can see above, when it comes to domestic competitions this season, Newcastle United are by some distance most successful so far, when it comes to winning cup matches.

Eddie Howe’s side with a perfect played eight and won all eight record.

Palace next best with won five and only losing one.

Whilst Liverpool and Tottenham have also win two cup games each, however, they have lost two each as well.
