The Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany will host the 2025 UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter, in what is set to be a box-office clash.
PSG are looking to win their first Champions League title and complete a famous treble after winning Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France. Les Parisiens will also be hoping to become the second club from France to become champions of Europe after Marseille in 1993. Having reached the semi-finals in four of the last six seasons, Luis Enrique’s side will be desperate to finally get over the line and bring glory to the Parc des Princes.
Although they had a poor start to the competition, PSG have grown into the tournament, and their free-flowing style of play has made them one of the most exciting teams to watch in the competition. Since joining in 2023, manager Luis Enrique has improved the culture at the club and produced a team which has proven to be well-balanced in the knockout stages of the competition.
Inter are hoping to become Champions of Europe for the fourth time, having last won the competition in 2010. After narrowly missing out on the Serie A title by a point to Napoli, they will be looking to end the season on a high note by being victorious in the Champions League.
The Italian side have been consistent throughout the competition, having only lost one game in 14 appearances, in the form of a a 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the league phase. Simone Inzaghi’s side will be looking to impose their defensively resolute style of play alongside their attacking prowess, which has seen them be difficult to beat. With many of the players who lost the 2023 final to Manchester City still remaining, Inter will be hopeful that that recent final experience will help them get the job done on the day.
For PSG, Ousmane Dembélé could be the difference-maker. The Frenchman has experienced his best career form since the turn of the new year, with 33 goals and 15 assists in all competitions across the course of the season. He has also developed a knack for scoring in big games, having scored away goals against Liverpool and Arsenal in the round of 16 and semi-final respectively.
Vitinha will also likely have a key role to play. As one of his side’s most influential playmakers, PSG will look to his ability to control the tempo of matches, as well as his goalscoring threat from midfield.
For Inter, they will be hoping their captain and talisman Lautaro Martínez can deliver if they are to be victorious. Having scored 9 goals in 13 matches in the Champions League this season, including a goal in each of the knockout rounds, he will be hoping to carry his prolific goalscoring form into the final to help get his side over the line.
Denzel Dumfries will also be a key player, and his explosive playstyle from right wing-back is one which allows him to thrive in tournament football. The Dutchman adds an attacking goal threat from defence, which saw him score twice against Barcelona in the first leg of Inter’s semi-final clash.
Luis Enrique expressed the faith he has in his group of players, and his admiration for his side’s growth, saying: “We’ve grown a lot this season and the players have progressed a lot. I think the strength of the team is the most important thing. You learn something every day after many years of experience as a coach, and I’m improving all the time with this group.”
Inzaghi stressed the determination his side have to get the job done, but the importance of keeping themselves under control.
“The players are determined to win; not obsessed, we don’t want that. We are proud to be Inter. I dreamed of playing the Champions League final; I didn’t do it as a player, but thanks to this group of players it’s the second in three years as a coach,” he said.
