PSG and Luis Campos reach breakthrough in contract renewal talks | OneFootball

PSG Sporting Director Luis Campos looks set to continue in his role, according to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins. The Ligue 1 champions and the Portuguese executive have reportedly reached a breakthrough in recent contract renewal talks in the last few days. Campos’ contract expires next June. Campos attracted interest from Premier League clubs, and Get French Football News reported that he was in talks with a major European side.

As Sporting Director since 2022, Campos has overseen a major revamp at PSG. He has instilled a new philosophy at the club, which has entailed moving away from signing big-name stars. There has been more of a focus on homegrown talents in France more generally, as well as those coming through the academy. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reportedly lobbied for Campos to renew his deal with PSG. Les Parisiens head coach Luis Enrique also backed the Portuguese executive.

RMC Sport goes on to add that Campos is already overseeing PSG’s summer transfer window. The former Lille and Monaco executive is reportedly scouring the market for a right-sided centre-back as the Ligue 1 champions look to secure a long-term replacement for club captain Marquinhos.
