Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has sparked rumours of a switch to Inter Milan but may only be seeking a new contract in France.
Donnarumma admitted in a post match interview that he missed playing at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and would be interested in returning, having previously represented AC Milan and fallen out with the Rossoneri.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere della Sera, and via FCInter1908.it, Donnarumma remains an important part of PSG’s plans despite his contract expiring next summer, particularly after recent heroics to eliminate Liverpool in the Champions League.
However, until recently he was the subject of ire from fans and within the club after some underwhelming performances, so renewal talks have not progressed.
Whilst Inter would firmly be interested in bringing in a goalkeeper of Donnarumma’s calibre, there are concerns that he is using the Nerazzurri to force PSG’s hand and agree an extension at €12 million per season.
As such, Inter could opt against pushing for him should he become available after he employed a similar stance when leaving Milan.
Alternatively, Donnarumma could be keen to join Inter after coming close to signing for them as a child before opting for the Rossoneri, whilst he would be keen to work with renowned goalkeeping coach Gianluca Spinelli.
