PSG scour market for potential Marquinhos replacement, Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk an option? | OneFootball

Marquinhos (30) is a key figure at Paris Saint-Germain. Club captain, the most long-serving player still at the club and displaceable at the heart of the defence, there are nonetheless questions surrounding the Brazilian’s future.

Last summer, Marquinhos was the subject of an approach from Saudi Arabia. Whilst that approach was rebuffed, the Gulf State retain their interest, are expected to return with another bid, and this time, the answer may be different. A departure is therefore a genuine possibility and one that PSG are anticipating.

As reported by L’Équipe, Les Parisiens are already scouring the market for potential replacements. It comes as Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk (33) was spotted talking with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luís Campos at Anfield. L’Équipe understands that Van Dijk has a strong relationship with the former.

Whilst a move to the Parc des Princes was not on the agenda during the conversation, as per L’Équipe, the publication says “Never say never” regarding a potential move to the Parc des Princes for the Dutchman.
