Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena faces an uncertain future after losing prominence under Hansi Flick this season.
The 26-year-old La Masia graduate had been the preferred choice in goal after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s serious knee injury earlier in the season.
But since January, Flick has installed Wojciech Szczesny as his preferred option between the sticks, with there now being plans to extend the 34-year-old’s contract as well.
All this has put Pena’s continuity at the club in jeopardy, as he would become the third-choice shot-stopper once Ter Stegen returns while his contract also expires next year.
In response to this situation, PSG have started closely monitoring Pena’s situation, considering the Barcelona goalkeeper as a potential replacement should Gianluigi Donnarumma leave the club in the upcoming transfer window, reports Fichajes.
Despite his unwavering commitment to Barcelona, Pena’s limited game time has hindered his development. At 26 years old, he needs a club where he can establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, PSG are believed to be actively seeking high-quality alternatives in goal amid uncertainty surrounding their current No. 1, Donnarumma.
The Ligue 1 champions view Pena as a goalkeeper with strong potential, top-level experience, and the qualities required to take on the challenge. His reflexes, shot-stopping ability, and confidence with the ball at his feet make him a strong fit for PSG’s tactical setup.
However, his departure from Barcelona would depend on the conditions set by the La Liga leaders and the project that PSG presents to him.
While PSG evaluate their options, Pena is also considering his next move. If his lack of minutes continues, it would not be surprising to see him seek a new challenge away from Barcelona.
The possibility of joining a European giant like PSG could be a unique opportunity for him to prove his worth and move beyond the secondary role he has held in recent months.
