PSV prospect set to ditch the Philips Stadion for lucrative Saudi move

PSV are on the verge of selling Matteo Dams to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli ‘for millions’, sources close to ESPN NL confirmed.

Following earlier reports from the Eindhovens Dagblad, the transfer of the 20-year-old Belgian arrives as a real shock, considering the defender was allegedly about to sign a multi-year contract in Eindhoven.

In an unexpected development, Dams has instead opted for a more lucrative adventure in Saudi Arabia, where he will reportedly earn a generous salary.

For Al-Ahli, the young defender not only offers great potential, but helps with import criteria – as clubs in Saudi Arabia do not have to register players under 21 as foreign players. The club are reportedly prepared to pay eight to ten million. An amount that no one at PSV saw coming.
