Christian Pulisic has admitted that he is experiencing a moment with AC Milan where it feels like everything he touches turns into a goal.

Pulisic is in simply outstanding form for Milan, continuing his excellent return from his debut season in Italy. He has scored in four consecutive Serie A matches and five of the past six including the derby win over Inter, also netting against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.

He continues to be a shining light for the Rossoneri in what has been a turbulent period in terms of results, and now the winger must perform a similar role for his country given they too have made the transition to a new head coach.

Pulisic spoke on Friday, the day before the USA play Panama in what will be Mauricio Pochettino’s first game in charge, and his comments were relayed by the Washington Post.

“You have moments in your career where it feels like everything you touch goes in. You have other times when it feels like you’re trying everything and the ball just won’t go in,” he said.

“As an attacking player, we’ve all gone through it, so just trying to live in that moment right now, when things seem to be going well. It’s a result of all the work I’ve put in my whole life. So it shouldn’t be a surprise. I know I have this ability and just kind of ride that high.”

Gregg Berhalter lost his job in July after what was a disappointing home Copa America campaign, and he was replaced by Pochettino two months later.

“We had some stretch of just tough results. I guess the change was needed. And that’s what we got. It’s not to say the bond between the guys has changed in any way. We’re all still really close off the field and on the field.

“Now we have a bit of a change, and the only thing we can do is look forward and how we can bring the excitement back in the team and go out and get results.

“We want to win both games [against Panama and Mexico], but the main thing is getting to know each other and feeling comfortable as a staff and as players and just feeling confident moving forward for bigger events to come.”

Pulisic is still getting to grips with being the face of the national team heading into the World Cup in 2026, which will be in the United States.

“I still struggle with that stuff. I guess it’s important for me to step out of my comfort zone a little bit, and I’m doing the best I can. Go with the flow.”
