Rangers fans won't like Celtic player's claim about Glasgow Derby

Every Glasgow Derby is a must-win for both sets of fans. But even then, it is very clear that there is one team that needs to win this weekend's one a lot more. Celtic are well on their way to winning the league for a fourth straight time, no matter what the result is on the day. On the other hand, a consolation win at Parkhead might be all the Rangers have left to play for this season.

That does not mean that Celtic won't be looking to win this one. They most definitely will want all three points to get closer to that league title.

Also, one cannot overlook the result of the previous Glasgow Derby. Celtic lost 3-0 away at Ibrox. That should act as added motivation for the Hoops to win this one.

Arne Engels seems to be viewing the upcoming game as just another one on the way to the league title. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the Belgian international said when asked if this weekend’s match is about proving how strong the squad is:

"No, I think we don’t really want to show what kind of really good team we are.“We just want to win and that’s the most important thing. It doesn’t need to be always pretty or something. We just need to win and that’s our main focus now on every game. That we just need to win and don’t need to show everybody how good we are because we showed it already a lot of times.“It’s now about winning every game and that’s always our mindset and it will always be our mindset every week. We prepare every game like every team. It’s not something special or something. We just need to focus on ourselves, focus on the next game and that’s what we are doing already now.“We are focusing now on the next game and that’s the Rangers game. So it’s up to us now to relax a bit, recover and then just go into the new week with full energy and then we are ready for it."

Engels had a shaky start at Celtic after being signed for a club-record fee in the summer from FC Augsburg. But as the season has progressed, he has grown into his role in the team and has been impressive in recent weeks.

One would hope that Engels puts in a commanding display in the middle of the park against the Rangers this weekend. A standout Glasgow Derby is something we have not seen from him since his arrival in the summer.

Of course, Celtic cannot make the mistake of taking the Rangers lightly. We learned at Ibrox that this team is capable of winning against the champions on their day.
