Toni Kroos, one of Real Madrid’s most respected voices, has openly praised Barcelona for their impressive display in the recent El Clasico, a game that saw Barça all but seal the La Liga title in convincing fashion.

While it is rare to hear compliments from a fierce rival, Kroos did not hold back in acknowledging the Catalan side’s quality under new manager Hansi Flick.

Barça’s 4-3 comeback win last Sunday not only clinched the title but also made a strong statement about their growth as a team.

The reaction from fans and pundits was widespread, but the biggest surprise came from within the Real Madrid dressing room itself.

Kroos concedes to Barcelona’s brilliance

Speaking on “Einfach mal Luppen”, the podcast he has with his brother, Kroos revealed that even with Real Madrid’s early 2-0 lead, he was not confident about the result.

“It’s the general feeling of the season. Even after the 2-0 win, I had doubts that the game would tilt in Real Madrid’s favour, to be fair. For me, it was a blessing to go 2-0 up,” the German admitted.

Kroos then turned his attention to Barcelona’s transformation under Flick. He made it clear that this team is mentally and technically stronger than the one managed by Xavi Hernandez last season.

“It’s what is really impressive about Barça. They continue to play as if nothing had happened. There is no fear of losing,”  Kroos observed.

He also pointed out how composed the Barcelona players looked throughout the game, even after conceding early goals.

“They have a lot of ease with the ball. Madrid didn’t come in with the greatest confidence, and what’s surprising is that they didn’t take advantage after that. It’s surprising,” he concluded.
