Bologna defender Sam Beukema has emerged as a concrete defensive target for a number of top European clubs, including Inter. According to Spanish outlet Sport, La Liga giants Real Madrid have recently joined the queue.
Beukema has become a star at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, establishing himself as one of Serie A’s best-performing center-backs. Indeed, the in-demand Bologna ace ranks third in the division for most duels won (151) and leads in passes made to the final third (143) among defenders.
Therefore, Bologna may lose the 26-year-old in the upcoming transfer window, with several elite clubs vying for his signature. Inter’s interest in the ex-AZ Alkmaar star is well-documented. Furthermore, Chelsea, Napoli, and Juventus are ready to rival the Nerazzurri for his services.
Despite only joining Bologna in the summer of 2023, Beukema could leave for a more high-profile destination. Aware of the growing interest in their defensive mainstay, Vincenzo Italiano’s charges have slapped a €30 million price tag on his shoulders.
Bologna’s valuation would hardly deter Real Madrid’s pursuit of the Netherlands international. Yet, Bournemouth starlet Dean Huijsen remains Los Blancos’ priority, handing Bologna hope that they could keep hold of their talismanic defender.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will add to their defensive options in the summer, with Huijsen perceived as a better long-term fit. However, Bologna could still relinquish Beukema’s services, with Los Merengues’ fierce rivals Atletico Madrid also in the mix.
One way or another, the Bologna rearguard will be the subject of intense transfer rumors in the coming months.
