Real Madrid are set to face a big challenge tomorrow as they take on Barcelona, in what could be a potential title-decider.
Whatever may be the outcome, however, Real Madrid are expected to go through a squad rejig in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave the club, with Xabi Alonso being the likely replacement, having already announced his exit form Bayer Leverkusen.
According to MARCA, Real Madrid’s top priority for the summer is to strengthen their defence.
The club are preparing for a new era, and with injuries and inconsistent form affecting key defenders this season, the need for reinforcements has become urgent.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is already set to join the team from Liverpool, expected to slot in at right-back. But that’s only the beginning.

The report adds that a new left-back is also expected to arrive, with Ferland Mendy’s performances underwhelming this season. In fact, both Mendy and Fran Garcia could find themselves in the chopping block this summer.
Additionally, a centre-back will be signed to address growing concerns over the physical condition of key players in that position.
Madrid are also keeping an eye on the youth academy, with names like Joan Martínez, Alejandro Valde, Jesus Aguado, Jacobo Ramon, and Ribas emerging as future options.
However, the club knows that experience and proven quality are needed immediately. This explains why the club have been linked with the likes of William Saliba, the Arsenal superstar.
Other than Saliba, Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate, though the club are expected to make a move only in the summer of 2026.
