Tijjani Reijnders extended his Milan contract not too long ago and, while he continues to be linked to foreign powerhouses, all indications are that he’ll stay at San Siro for the long haul, as he implied talking to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Living in Italy and playing in a team like this one is a dream I had since I was a child. My family is happy here. When they offered me the renewal, it was an easy choice. I thank the management: the execs were quick in the negotiation.” “Winning the Supercoppa was fantastic and generated incredible sensations. It made we want to pursue other trophies. Reaching the Coppa Italia final is a major opportunity. We have to go to Rome with one goal in mind: take home the cup. Moreover, it’d allow us to play in Europe.”
While Milan have been pedestrian in Serie A, they have shown up in every match against Inter, staying undefeated in the five clashes and winning the two most important ones.
“This city is red-and-black because they never beat us this year. We have proven what we’re capable of. The last derby was the best one. We’ve not been consistent enough and dropped many points along the way. We were hungry like dogs on Wednesday and demonstrated the quality that we haven’t always been able to display during the season.”
Reijnders is having a career year scoring-wise.
“In the past, I wasn’t as clinical as I’m now. I’ve worked a lot on that and spoke with my friends and family members to figure out how to better help the team with my plays. It was mostly mental. I feel more focused and cold-blooded now.”
