Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu and defender Francesco Acerbi are set to miss out on Wednesday’s Champions League clash between Inter Milan and Monaco.

This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that neither of the two Nerazzurri players look to be in condition to even just be on the bench for the match.

Inter take on Monaco in the Champions League tomorrow evening.

This will be both of the two teams’ final match in the “league phase” of the competition.

For the Nerazzurri, a point would be enough to ensure that they finish in the top eight and secure their place in the round of sixteen directly.

Meanwhile, a victory would guarantee that Inter finish at least fourth in the table.

Monaco, on the other hand, could qualify directly for the knockouts with a victory. A draw would not be enough to do so, however, and they’d need to play a playoff in February.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have to do without a couple of players due to injury.

There is some positive news. Defender Yann Bisseck is back, and played the second half of yesterday’s Serie A win over Lecce.

However, defender Francesco Acerbi will not be able to be in the squad on Wednesday, reports FCIN.

The 36-year-old is still dealing with lingering thigh problems.

Meanwhile, FCIN reports, midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will not be able to return from his calf strain.

The Turkish international has been aiming to be in the squad against Monaco. That could give him the chance to get some playing time ahead of next weekend’s derby against AC Milan.

However, reports FCIN, Calhanoglu will not in fact be able to be part of the squad. Even if only on the bench.
