Inter Milan had made Vincenzo Italiano their top target to replace Simone Inzaghi before he extended his contract with Bologna.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan are confronting the possibility that they could lose Simone Inzaghi as coach.
The 49-year-old should likely make his final decision about his future tomorrow.
If Inzaghi does depart, the the Nerazzurri will look to a fresh approach. They want a young coach with progressive ideas.

According to Tuttosport, there are three names in the frame for Inter.
Former Nerazzurri midfielders Christian Chivu and Patrick Vieira – currently coaching Parma and Genoa respectively – would be candidates.
Then, Como coach Cesc Fabregas has impressed Inter with his first season coaching in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi had also been on Inter’s list. However, the 45-year-old appears to be inclined towards staying at Marseille.
However, according to Tuttosport, Inter’s first choice would have been a different coach.
Vincenzo Italiano has massively impressed with his first season in charge of Bologna. Therefore, he’s the coach Inter would have liked to have turned to should Inzaghi depart.
However, Italiano recently signed a contract extension. He committed his future to the Rossoblu.
Therefore, the former Fiorentina coach is not available this summer.
