A purchase option in a loan deal between Venezia and Inter Milan for Filip Stankovic could be mandatory at the end of the season.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, there’s a clause in Stankovic’s loan agreement.
Venezia temporarily brought the talented goalkeeper from Giuseppe Meazza last summer.
Initially projected to play second fiddle to Jesse Joronen, Stankovic has leapfrogged his senior teammate in the pecking order.
Indeed, the 22-year-old has fortified his position between the sticks, convincing Eusebio Di Francesco to play him ahead of Joronen.
Therefore, Venezia wouldn’t mind securing his permanent switch to Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.
Di Francesco’s charges will take on Inter in a lopsided Serie A clash on Sunday.
Firmly embroiled in a relegation scrap, Venezia head into proceedings three points adrift of safety.
However, their survival hopes are still alive and kicking.
Avoiding the drop would be a massive success for the club, but it would also affect Stankovic’s future.
In such events, Venezia will have no choice but to activate a €2 million buyout option.
Meanwhile, Inter would retain 50% of the future resale.
Stankovic will probably be in goal this weekend as Venezia bid to avenge a controversial 1-0 defeat in November’s reverse fixture.
