Royal Antwerp sign 20-year-old prospect from Boca Juniors as Aston Villa rumours persist

Royal Antwerp officially announced the loan arrival of Mauricio Benítez (20) from Boca Juniors yesterday. The midfielder from the Argentinian giants won the U20 Copa Libertadores (the Youth League of South America) and the Intercontinental Cup (match between the U20 champion of South America and Europe) two seasons ago.

The Great OId have negotiated a purchase option on Benítez, who only broke into Boca’s first team in the 2024-25 season.

The news of the South American starlet’s arrival comes amidst negotiations for Kadan Young (19). The Aston Villa winger is looking for game time after successful spells in the Villans’ reserves and a brief appearance for the first team in the League Cup.

Young is an English youth international and looks set to join Antwerp on loan until the end of the season. On Sunday afternoon he was even spotted at the Bosuil during the match against Club Brugge.
