Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has reportedly been left unhappy with the club’s slow movements in the ongoing winter transfer window.
United are yet to make a signing this month and have only sanctioned loan exits for some academy graduates including Ethan Ennis, Joe Hugill and Ethan Williams.
Despite the team’s challenges on the pitch, the hierarchy has yet to provide Amorim with any reinforcements as he strives to guide the club to a strong finish this season.
The Portuguese coach has lost seven of his first 16 matches in charge while trying to implement his preferred 3-4-3 formation.
Now, Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News reports that Amorim has not been impressed with United’s inactivity in the market so far.
According to Luckhurst, “Ruben Amorim is frustrated by Manchester United’s inactivity so far in the winter transfer window.”
“Sources have suggested Amorim was not fully aware of United’s financial issues when he agreed to take over as head coach in November.”
“United sources have denied that and insist Amorim was given a full and transparent breakdown of the club’s financial realities when it was outlined that the days of spending £200million+ every summer were over.”
It’s understood that Amorm was informed that United would have to sell before recruiting players this month.
However, the Red Devils could be in for a busy few days as the February 3 transfer deadline rapidly approaches.
Antony is on the brink of completing a loan move to La Liga outfit Real Betis after failing to nail down a spot in Amorim’s set-up.
There is also a chance that Marcus Rashford will depart Old Trafford, with a number of clubs including Barcelona, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund interested in signing him on loan.
Additionally, Alejandro Garnacho continues to be strongly linked with an exit, with Napoli and Chelsea pursuing his signature. Meanwhile, United remain in talks with Lecce over a transfer for Patrick Dorgu after their second bid for him was rejected on Friday.
