Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim appears set to retain his job despite his team’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in last night’s UEFA Europa League final.

It was a bitter defeat for Man United, who largely appeared toothless in a match that they could ill afford to lose.

Given the magnitude of the situation, plenty of criticism has been launched at Amorim, particularly when it comes to his in-game decisions.

Sky Sports slammed Amorim, claiming that United lack identity under their current manager’s leadership.

In fact, straight after the match, Amorim himself addressed the expected dissatisfaction that United fans would have with his team’s performance, claiming that he would be prepared to step down from his role if fans demanded it.

Despite his bold claim, it seems as if Amorim may not need to fear for the safety of his job just yet.

“Ruben Amorim retains the backing of the #MUFC board. A summer change is not expected,” journalist Ben Jacobs posted on X.

This post seems to put an end to the constant argument over whether Amorim will part ways with United.

The Peoples Person noted a report claiming that members of United’s executive board have expressed concern over Amorim’s ability to lead a team as big as United.

Even with Amorim seemingly secure in his role, there are some glaring issues that he will need to address in order to regain the trust of United’s fanbase.

Yet again, United appeared unable to truly threaten their opponents’ defence.

Of course, there are more specific positional issues at play. Amorim’s refusal to stop playing Rasmus Hojlund despite his horrid form remains a mystery, while several older players appeared to struggle to handle a much of such intensity.

Ultimately, Amorim will need to get next season off to a fiery start if he is to restore the faith of the United fans and INEOS alike.
