The Eintracht goalkeeper won the vote for the best Bundesliga newcomer in September.

“I’m very happy to be here and to have extended my contract,” said Kaua Santos on Wednesday after agreeing a new deal at Eintracht Frankfurt until 30 June 2030. “I’ll keep working hard and I want to achieve great things with Eintracht.” There was more good news for the young Brazilian goalkeeper on Friday after it was confirmed that he had won the Bundesliga’s “Rookie of the Month” vote for September, beating fellow nominees Michael Olise (Bayern Munich) and Fabian Rieder (VfB Stuttgart) to the prize.

Eintracht fans evidently turned out in force to have their say, with the weighting of the vote divided into three sections:

- Fan votes: 40 percent - Club votes: 30 percent - Pundit votes: 30 percent Santos experienced a whirlwind month in September. He made his maiden Bundesliga appearance and senior debut for Eintracht away to VfL Wolfsburg on Matchday 3 when he replaced injured captain Kevin Trapp at half-time. The 21-year-old remained between the posts for the team’s subsequent league games in September, keeping a clean sheet against Borussia Mönchengladbach in a 2-0 win, as well as in the 4-2 victory in Kiel. He made the fourth-highest number of saves among all goalkeepers in September, despite playing 45 minutes fewer, while helping the Eagles to victories all three of their Bundesliga assignments across the month.
