Nico Paz is enjoying a stellar spell in Serie A after joining Como in the summer. Under the leadership of Cesc Fabregas, the former Madrid youth prodigy has seen a rapid growth.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Paz has emerged as a vital cog in Como’s creative setup, notably racking up three goals and four assists.

In light of Paz’s breakthrough campaign at Como, the youngster’s future has come into focus, especially with Real Madrid holding 50% of his transfer rights and a buyback clause as well.

Although reports suggest Real Madrid will not consider the possibility of buying back Nico just yet, Como coach Fabregas has issued a stern warning to Los Blancos, in case they do.

Fabregas’ warning to Real Madrid

In a recent press conference, Fabregas has sent out a clear message regarding his desire to keep Nico Paz at Como.

“Nico is a Como player. Real Madrid can buy him back, but at a certain price. Nico is a young player and our relationship with his family is very stable,” Fabregas said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Nico Paz joined Como for a fee of just €6 million in the summer, but the Italian club could only acquire 50% of his transfer rights.

This means Real Madrid will have to pay only half of whatever Como demand for their star playmaker.

To that end, Fabregas has warned Como will only consider selling Paz if they receive a fortune. And this is irrespective of whether or not Real Madrid are interested.

“Even if Real Madrid doesn’t want to buy him back, Como won’t sell him for €40/50 million because we want to create a future, an identity with this group of talented young players and make sure that in three or four years,” he said.

Finally, Fabregas doubled down on the fact that Nico Paz is extremely happy at Como and wants to continue playing here.

“They are very happy, they thank us for all this and it is a great pleasure for us to have him here. Nico is our brand and we want him to continue with us in Como for many years,” he said.

“All of us, starting with the club and the president, know what we have to do and we are working slowly and quietly to have him with us,” he concluded.
