Former Manchester United midfielder Maxi Oyedele is on Shakhtar Donetsk’s radar, as per reports.
Under INEOS, United are aggressively looking to add the best up-and-coming talents to their ranks as they try to strengthen their youth setup.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Red Devils are attempting to raid Tottenham Hotspur for their technically gifted midfielder Dexter Oliver. United have also convinced Le Havre prodigy Enzo Kana-Biyik to join their project.
However, despite their immense potential, not every signing is going to make it at United and might eventually be allowed to leave.
United parted ways with highly-rated midfielder Oyedele to Legia Warsaw last summer.
The 20-year-old generated plenty of excitement with his performances at the youth level and in pre-season under then-manager Erik ten Hag, but the Dutchman had no place for him in his first team plans.
Accordingly, he left United permanently after spending 12 years on their books.
Oyedele has enjoyed a promising campaign with Legia, having made 21 appearances in all competitions so far. He even earned a call-up to the Polish national team earlier in the season. Now, his exploits have attracted the interest of Shakhtar.
According to Meczyki.pl (via Sport Witness), the Ukrainian giants are keen on signing the talented midfielder.
It is understood that Oyedele’s contract in Warsaw includes a €6 million release clause. Shakhtar remain in talks and have shown willingness to trigger the clause.
United will benefit from this move as part of the agreement with the Polish outfit, the Premier League giants are due to receive 50 per cent of any profit from his future sale.
However, it remains unclear whether Oyedele wants to join Shakhtar or wait for a bigger opportunity at this stage of his career.
