Sky: Furlani in London to close agreement with new Milan director – the chosen one

AC Milan are closing in on appointing a new sporting director as Giorgio Furlani has flown to London to meet with Fabio Paratici.
Since the sacking of Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, Geoffrey Moncada has been the technical director of the club. Antonio D’Ottavio was also promoted to sporting director, but reports earlier this season suggested that he stepped down due to having a different vision from others.
According to Sky, the search for a new sporting director seems to have arrived at the decisive moment for the Rossoneri. Milan are strongly focusing on Paratici, and for this reason the CEO Furlani flew to London to meet the former Juventus and Tottenham man.
He is the chosen candidate, and the negotiation ‘could be in the final stages’ because the hope of both parties is to close in the next few hours in a positive way. At that point the organisational chart will be clearer and more defined, so the club can turn towards planning for the future.
As we profiled in a recent feature, Paratici has built much of his career alongside Giuseppe Marotta, a figure who in Italy is considered the true best in class and is at Inter. Away from Marotta’s shadow, Paratici has had difficulty maintaining the same standards, but has still done some positive work.
