Journalist Peppe Di Stefano has given an update this afternoon for Sky in which he spoke about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence and Santiago Gimenez’s condition.
Ibrahimovic’s presence (or lack thereof) has aroused an element of mystery, with speculation that his powers at Milan have been downsized. He was not seen at Milanello in the build up to the Como game, before the break with the official reason being that he was/is suffering from the flu.
However, it comes during a time when there is talk of him reflecting on his future, after CEO Giorgio Furlani obtained full decision-making powers. In the meantime, striker Santiago Gimenez will return to the training ground as a CONCACAF Nations League champion, but possibly with a knock.
Di Stefano spoke on Sky this afternoon and touched on two important topics, namely the continued absence of Ibrahimovic and how Gimenez is doing, with his comments transcribed by PianetaMilan.
On Ibrahimovic: “It’s clearly not a controversy on my part, but Ibra hasn’t been seen around here since the eve of Lecce-Milan [March 8]. He probably wasn’t very well. Now this week we’ll try to understand and see if he’ll show up around here again today.”
On Gimenez: “Milan’s doctors will evaluate Santiago Gimenez’s condition as soon as he returns here to Milanello. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about, but it will clearly be necessary to evaluate whether it’s just a knock, muscle fatigue or if there’s something else.”
