Spurs linked with shock interest in €20m Chelsea new arrival which can’t be real

The January transfer window is open – although there’s been no action at Chelsea just yet.

It’s very much a phoney war so far – lots of talk and rumour but no concrete action. At Stamford Bridge the majority of business was expected to be outgoing, but we’ve not even seen any of that either yet.

Enzo Maresca was asked in his press conference over the weekend about potential departures for central defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi, and didn’t rule anything out. “It’s January, anything can happen,” the coach said cryptically in his press conference.

Disasi has been linked with a few teams, and seems most likely to go. Adarabioyo only arrived in the summer, and has played a lot more than his new teammate. But CaughtOffside have just dropped an exclusive which is pretty explosive, claiming that Tottenham are interested in the former Fulham man.

Tosin has chance of leaving – but Spurs a long shot

Now we can just about believe that Chelsea are willing to sell Tosin – in fact we believe they’re willing to sell pretty much anyone if they get the right deal. But to Tottenham? That seems like a stretch. Spurs are desperate for a central defender thanks to an injury crisis and struggling lower down the league, on the verge of sacking their coach – but it feels unlikely we’re willing to help them out.

If they were to offer us silly money, of course we’d take it. He’s valued at €20m on TransferMarkt. But they’re not going to do that – it’s just not how the sensible Daniel Levy operates. They’d (probably quite reasonably) rather continue struggling through with what they’ve got than waste money on a stopgap.

So while we can see a small chance of Tosin leaving this January – we don’t think it will be to Spurs.
