Real Madrid are already planning for the future as they look to bolster their defensive options for the 2025 season.
According to reports from Real Madrid Confidencial, the Spanish giants have identified Aymeric Laporte and Vitor Reis as their primary targets to reinforce the backline next summer.
These two names stand out for their contrasting profiles and potential contributions to the squad.
Laporte, a seasoned Spanish international, leads the list of candidates being considered. The 30-year-old has years of top-level experience and could provide stability and leadership to Real Madrid’s defence.
On the other hand, Reis, an 18-year-old talent from Palmeiras, is viewed as a long-term investment. The Brazilian youngster is highly rated for his raw potential, and the club sees him as a player who can grow into a pivotal role in the years to come.

Despite these plans, Real Madrid are not in a hurry to make defensive signings. The club remains confident in its current options, particularly in the internal solutions available within the squad.
Raul Asencio, a promising youth player, has emerged as a standout performer this season. The 21-year-old has made nine first-team appearances, clocking 452 minutes and delivering impressive performances in Eder Militao’s absence.
Militao’s long-term injury, caused by a cruciate ligament tear, opened the door for Asencio to showcase his abilities, and he has taken full advantage of the opportunity.
Meanwhile, David Alaba is expected to recover from his injury and return to action by mid-January. Carlo Ancelotti is satisfied with his defensive options and has no plans to push for reinforcements in the January transfer window.
Instead, the club is focused on its long-term strategy, ensuring measured and calculated moves in the transfer market.
By targeting Laporte and Reis, Real Madrid are preparing for both the present and the future.
