Roma is nearing a contract extension for their goalkeeper Mile Svilar, who has been one of the team’s best-performing players since last season, attracting interest from more than one Premier League club.
The 25-year-old has seen his status elevate significantly since joining the Giallorossi from Benfica in 2022.

Initially seen as a backup to Rui Patrício, Mile Svilar was promoted by Daniele De Rossi last season, steadily rising through the pecking order. His consistent performances have since cemented his place as Roma’s first-choice goalkeeper, ultimately leading the club to part ways with the Portuguese veteran last summer.
According to Il Messaggero, Svilar’s progression has not gone unnoticed, prompting Roma to act decisively in securing his services for the future, as they look close to extending his contract.
Negotiations are reportedly advancing towards a four-year extension, which would see the Belgian’s annual salary increase to approximately €3 million.

A key aspect under discussion is the inclusion of a release clause, potentially applicable exclusively to offers from foreign clubs. The Giallorossi are inclined to agree to this provision, provided the clause is set at a substantial figure, exceeding €40 million, to safeguard the club’s interests.
Svilar attracted attention from Premier League giants, with West Ham expressing interest during the summer transfer window and Manchester City making inquiries in January. Despite these approaches, Roma have remained steadfast in retaining their talented shot-stopper.
