Telegraph: Man City make Milan star ‘serious target’ but record offer needed – the situation

Manchester City have made AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders a target ahead of the summer window, according to a report.
Reijnders has been one of the stand-out performers since his arrival at Milan in the 2023 summer mercato, having added goals to his 15 this season, to be precise. He recently committed his long-term future to the club with a renewal until 2030.
While the Dutchman has publicly expressed his happiness about being a Milan player and a desire to stay for years to come, this hasn’t stopped rumours about interest from other top European clubs.
According to The Telegraph, Reijnders is ‘a serious summer target as they plan the rebuilding of Pep Guardiola’s squad’. Milan are ‘braced for an offer for Reijnders’ when the transfer window opens, but they would likely demand higher than the club record departure of Kaka to Real Madrid for €67m.
Kevin De Bruyne is leaving and Rodri has had a serious injury this season, so City are looking for someone who can play as a box-to-box midfielder and be creative. Added to this is the fact that Ilkay Gundogan will turn 35 next season and Nico González has just arrived.

Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White is another name that they are looking at but ‘Reijnders is firmly in the same category’ and signing more than one midfielder is a possibility for the Manchester club.
Florian Wirtz meanwhile is seen more of an attacking midfielder, and there are doubts about whether they can get the Bayer Leverkusen ace, because Bayern Munich are also in for the 22-year-old. So, Reijnders could be the one they send a big bid for.
