A short Celtic message on the club’s official social media platforms confirmed that news that we reported at the start of the week. This decision to allow Bain to leave on a free contract comes about because at 33, the former Dundee keeper wanted a chance to play first team football.
Celtic allowing Scott to leave as a free agent will allow the deal he presumably has in place to proceed and we can expect news of that shortly.

Celtic stated: ‘Celtic FC can confirm that goalkeeper Scott Bain has left the club after more than seven years as a Celt! During his time at Paradise, Scott won seven league titles, four League Cups, and three Scottish Cups. Thank you for everything, Bainy.”
Scott Bain didn’t get too many chances to play for the club but has been a reliable back-up keeper and he got off to a dramatic start being thrown in by Brendan Rodgers for a massive match at Ibrox in March 2018 and playing his part in a hugely important 3-2 victory, all the more impressive given that Celtic played much of the second half with ten men, against an opponent who fancied their chances of winning the league that season. Odsonne Edouard’s winner was legendary but don’t forget the Scott Bain save near the end.

Brendan Rodgers has lined-up former Hoops keeper Ross Doohan to be Bain’s replacement and he is set to join Celtic, also on a free transfer, from his current club Aberdeen.
Best of luck to Scott Bain and we look forward to seeing you in action on a regular basis over the next few years. What a Celtic journey you’ve had!
