After Charlotte came from behind to beat Nashville early in the day, a Diego Luna brace saw Real Salt Lake kick the LA Galaxy while they are down.

Meanwhile, both Ohio clubs picked up narrow home wins, meaning the Crew remain unbeaten to start the season, and Cincinnati sit just two points behind them level on points in second place. Hell is Real matches are going to be electric this year!

Over at Sports Illustrated Stadium, the New York Red Bulls picked up a much needed win against a Chicago Fire side who had been hot lately.

As we head into the later kick-offs, Sporting Kansas City made their first major statement in the wake of Peter Vermes' sacking last week. A pair of goals from Dejan Joveljić saw SKC take all three points against bitter rivals St. Louis City.

After Houston pulled off major upset by beating LAFC at home on the back of a Jack McGlynn stunner, San Diego thumped Seattle to pick up right where they left off last week.

Finally, Vancouver keep on rolling with a win over Colorado to make some club history.

Player of the night

It was the breakout night for Mexican star Chucky Lozano. The San Diego FC man had three goal contributions in the first-half as Mikey Varas' side thrashed Seattle.

What this means

With Columbus remaining unbeaten, they take over sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference, though Miami can surpass them on Sunday.

Out in the west, Seattle's woes have been further enflamed, and their thumping defeat in San Diego means they have one win in seven matches to start the season.

What comes next

We've got another feast of football on Sunday with three more matches in MLS.
