The current international break is the calm before the storm so to speak. When domestic football resumes this weekend it will be the final push for Manchester City of the 24/25 season. Although it has been a disappointing season for Pep Guardiola’s side there is still plenty to gain from the season for his team.
Up next for Manchester City is an FA Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. It will be a tricky test for Pep Guardiola’s side. Andoni Iraola’s side has been impressive this season, and they did beat City at the Vitality Stadium earlier this season. That result could be viewed as the one that started City’s slide through November and December. Sunday’s match will be a tough test for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Following that Manchester City will continue their battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Based on their past two Premier League results against Nottingham Forest and Brighton that will be no easy task. But it’s a task that Pep Guardiola’s side simply must complete. They must earn their place in next season’s Champions League. Firstly, to maintain their place in Europe’s premier club competition and secondly, so the club doesn’t miss out on the massive financial bonuses the Champions League offers participating clubs. That’s the task ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side.
That push begins this weekend at the Vitality Stadium. If Manchester City can win against Bournemouth they will book themselves another trip to Wembley. Following that they take on Leicester City at the Etihad in Premier League action. If they can pick up two victories after the international break it will set Pep Guardiola’s side up for their final push of the 24/25 season. That push begins this weekend against Bournemouth.
