Lars Ricken (in the Mixed Zone): "It feels good, especially since winning wasn't a given when you look at where we were coming from and the fact that we were a goal down five minutes in. The team fought back, gave it their all, fought hard, and created good opportunities to score in the first half. Ryerson was outstanding in that respect. In the second half, it was even better, even more dominant. The way Guirassy scored the penalty with so much determination, the way Beier scored his goal, but also the way he ran so many balls down, that was really great. The team showed again what they are capable of. What's important is that they play as a team: together you can just achieve more."
Sebastian Kehl (to DAZN): "We're extremely relieved, firstly because it was enough to get us to the quarter finals, and also because we performed really well. In the first half we had a lot of chances to score. The team didn't sit back in the second half either, and this win is more than deserved. In the end, we just kept at it, maintained a high pace and intensity, and because of that we also kept believing that we could still turn this game around."
Niko Kovac (to DAZN): "A great team effort - an effort that took a lot of energy - and an absolutely deserved win. It was unfortunate that we went a goal down, but the team still dominated the game and had three huge chances where Lille cleared on the line, and one shot that hit the post. Overall there were a lot of chances for a Champions League away game. That shows that the team has quality and was born for games like this. Lille is a strong team on the ball. But Barcelona will top that, by a lot actually. For us, that means we'll need to make the most of the phases of possession that we get. When we're not in possession, we need to defend well. But we have good players too - good speeds - that we can use to hurt our opponents."
Nico Schlotterbeck (to DAZN): "It's like a weight has been lifted. There was enormous pressure on this game. We had to win, and then we unfortunately went a goal down. But then the team performed well and we deserved to win. Maxi (Beier, editor's note) deserved that goal. He practises that exact shot very often. He's a good lad, he works very hard, and I said to him weeks ago that if he carries on like this, he'll be rewarded at some point. That was the cherry on the cake of his performance, because everything that he did, especially defensively, was very good."
Gregor Kobel (to DAZN): "We were very, very strong right from the beginning today. I think we're quite resilient in the Champions League. We were the better team. So I'm super proud of the team. That was a very, very important win. And it feels really great. Now we're definitely the underdogs - but I mean, a quarter final against Barcelona - it doesn't get much better than that!"
Emre Can (to BVB-TV): "Lots of people didn't think we'd be able to do it today. And then we end up conceding such as sh... goal. That can't happen again. We just lost the ball out of nowhere. Then we had chances but didn't score from them. But in the end we gave it our all and played very intensely. Huge compliments to the team. Today was a good day. Nowadays you can't play football without intensity. We did that very, very well, especially in the second half."
Karim Adeyemi (in the Mixed Zone): "It was quite similar last year, maybe not as bad in the Bundesliga, but similar. It's hard, and we still aren't satisfied. It's hard to perform like we have nearly every week in the Bundesliga and then play so well in the Champions League. We're doing everything we can to try and make it happen in the Bundesliga as well. We're playing in Leipzig at the weekend, and we're absolutely prepared and of course want to win."
"When you go a goal down so early on, especially when you're playing away, it's never easy. But we responded brilliantly and already had some great chances in the first half. During half time we all had the feeling that we could win the game if we kept it up. For me, we deserved to get through. We played a really good away game."
