Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has sent a staunch message to the younger players in the squad during his first club interview.

The Portuguese was recently appointed as the permanent head coach and he is expected to take charge of training once his working visa is approved.

In his first interview on Manutd.com, the 39-year-old was asked about the excitement over the potential of Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo, Rasmus Hojlund, Rasmus Hojlund and Leny Yoro.

In response, Amorim said that age should not be a factor and those players should be prepared to cope with the demands of playing for the Red Devils.

He said: “Yeah, yeah. But I don’t want to say that we need time because we are a young team.

“They are prepared. They are prepared to cope with the demands of playing for Manchester United.

“They should be because they are here. We know it will take time and we will try to win time with the games.

“But we have to start since day one without fear, without thinking that they are not used to playing like this.

“This is not on my mind. They will start on the first day with our idea, no matter what. That’s the goal.”

Amorim sends right message in first interview

The Red Devils have had another frustrating start to the campaign, but there has been promise shown by some of the younger players in the squad.

Yoro has yet to make his competitive debut after sustaining a foot injury, but the rest of the players have been involved in the early part of the season.

Mainoo has been a revelation in the centre of the park for the Red Devils. Hojlund has not scored regular goals, but remains an undisputed starter up front.

Garnacho has been by far United’s best performer with seven goals and four assists while Diallo was also impressive in the lead up to the international break.

Amorim clearly believes the quintet are prepared to play at the highest level without fear.

The Portuguese has sent the right message and should instill confidence in the younger players that he is prepared to trust them from his managerial debut at Ipswich Town.

Former manager Erik ten Hag also placed trust on emerging talents, but highlighted that United need more time to challenge for the title as the team are in transition.
