Tottenham have suffered a very poor season in the Premier League as they are languishing at the bottom of the points table. The club need quality reinforcements in the summer if they need to perform better next season. Tottenham have a glaring lack of quality in their squad, which has been evident in the performances of the players this season.
Spurs need more quality in their midfield, and Give Me Sport has reported that the club are interested in signing Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid in the summer. Gallagher has performed really well of late for the Spanish club, and it remains to be seen if he does make a comeback to the Premier League.
The 25-year-old has had good outings for Chelsea and Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Hence, the Englishman does have extensive experience in England’s top-flight competition. However, Tottenham might not play in Europe next season unless they win the Europa League. So, Gallagher leaving Atletico for Tottenham will mean that he might not be able to play in Europe next season, and that will be a thing to consider as well.
Talking about his stats, Gallagher has scored three goals in 27 matches so far in the La Liga 2024/2025 season. Two of the three goals were scored at home, while he scored one goal in away games. Overall, Conor Gallagher’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.18. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 5 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.3 per 90 minutes, and his non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.17.
Conor Gallagher brings relentless drive and dynamism to any midfield. Known for his tireless energy, aggressive pressing, and knack for making forward runs, he’s the kind of player who can inject intensity into a game. Gallagher thrives in transitional moments, offers leadership on and off the ball, and shows real adaptability across multiple midfield roles. While his technical consistency isn’t always perfect, his overall impact and commitment are hard to overlook.
For Tottenham, Gallagher could be an ideal fit this summer. His high-octane style matches perfectly with Ange Postecoglou’s pressing system, and he’d help bolster a midfield that’s in need of depth and reliability. Even with minor technical flaws, his versatility and proven Premier League experience make him a strong candidate. If Spurs can work out a swap deal involving Atletico Madrid to manage finances, bringing in Gallagher could be a smart move ahead of a demanding 2025/26 campaign.
