Hakan Calhanoglu is pushing to start tomorrow’s Serie A derby clash between AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, report that today’s training session will be decisive. Calhanoglu will aim to be fit for at least an hour or so.
Inter midfielder Calhanoglu has been on the sidelines for a few weeks now.
The 30-year-old picked up a thigh problem during the Supercoppa Italiana final against Milan earlier this month.
Then, Hakan Calhanoglu suffered a separate injury during his recovery process. That was a calf strain, which has kept him out since the Supercoppa.
Calhanoglu has missed four Serie A matches and two Champions League outings.
Naturally, there would be no bigger match in which to return than the derby against Milan.
As a former AC Milan player, clashes with the Rossoneri always have a special importance for Calhanoglu.

The last match in which the Turk played was actually a derby. He started the Supercoppa final, but had to come off the pitch in the first half.
And now, Calhanoglu is pushing to make his return in another derby. Tomorrow, Inter face Milan in the second league derby of the campaign.
Hakan Calhanoglu has been back in training since Thursday.
Inevitably, the 30-year-old is not quite at his best condition as he builds up match fitness.
But the Gazzetta report that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has been impressed with what he’s seen from Calhanoglu.
Should today’s training have more positive signs, Calhanoglu should be ready to start tomorrow. He will not be able to see out the ninety minutes, but should at least be able to play until the hour mark.
