Lazio and Roma’s players had already argued multiple times during the match, but all the frustration emerged seconds before the final whistle when Castellanos responded to a Hummels’ push with a studs-up tackle spotted by the fourth official.
Hummels reacted angrily but didn’t even receive a yellow card, given to his teammate Evan N’dicka instead.
DAZN pundit Luca Marelli said Castellanos deserved to be sent off, although referee Luca Pairetto should have booked Hummels.
