(Video): Nicolas Jackson ends barren run with expert first time strike from Enzo assist

Nicolas Jackson had gone 13 games without a goal – well, not anymore.
The striker has looked devoid of confidence for weeks, if not months, and his performance against Fulham last week was perhaps a low point. He was hesitant and constantly second guessing himself.
This goal showed the opposite – he finally had the confidence to take on a shot from range and was rewarded with a great goal. Romeo Lavia did so well to pinch the ball in midfield, and then the Blues were ready to spring. Lavia’s tackle sent the ball rolling to Enzo Fernandez, who played a first time ball to Jackson, who took one touch to stop the ball and then struck it low into the far corner.
He’s been incredibly streaky in his Chelsea career so far, so hopefully this change in fortunes triggers a wave of goals to carry us to the end of the season. He might even bag another one today.

This is only half the battle, of course, and we’ve seen this team throw away plenty of leads before. But with the home crowd now energised and excited, and the prospect of 3 crucial points in the battle for Champions League up for grabs, the Blues should have enough to see off the Toffees, who really have nothing to play for.
They remain well organised and well motivated by David Moyes, but another goal should see us break their spirit and put us in a really strong position to earn 3 points and keep the pressure up on the teams around us in the table in the race for the top 5.
